The objective of this study is to analyze consumer's preference to Korean food restaurants according to food consumption lifestyles. 2017 Consumers Survey on Food Consumption Behavior conducted by Korea Rural Economic Institution was main data set for this analyzation. Food consumption life style is a potential factor of preference of Korean food restaurants and also it is important factor which can explain some reasons of people's preferences for Korean food restaurants which are not explained by previous studies. For comprehensive analyzation, not only food consumption lifestyle but also gender, age, residence, eating out frequency and reasons for eating out. The results of this study suggest that gender, age, residence and reasons of eating out affect Korean food restaurants. And also consumers included in specific food consumption lifestyle has positive preference for Korean food restaurants. With these results this study suggests several strategies to owner of Korean food restaurants and their marketing manager.

This study examined social welfare effects of the 'Multiple-Purpose Utilization Project for Paddy Fields'. Under the assumption that the project would be implemented for 41,447ha in Korea for 21 years, we found that the effects of the project depend on durable years of the infrastructure, farmers' choices on which crops to plant, and double-cropped area. We also found that the net benefits from the project were 3,699.7~3,717.1 billion won for 51 years under 30 years durability and 4,937.1~4,956.2 billion won for 71 years under 50 years of durability. However, the project would have negative economic effects when farmers who participate keep cultivating rice. Therefore, it is essential to give farmers a form of incentives such as income assistance to encourage them to cultivate field crops.

The Korea Racing Authority (KRA) shall pay the remaining amount of the proceeds from the racing business to the Livestock Development Fund except for the facility investment expenses required for the horse racing business and the rest as special reserves. If the horse racing business is shrinking, the scale of the livestock development fund will also decrease. The Livestock Development Fund pays the Korean Racing Authority by the Livestock Industry Act, and the operation is carried out by the NACF, which is entrusted by the supervisory department. However, in the Livestock Industry Act, support for the horse industry has been specified only recently (Dec. 31, 2018) for the purpose of the fund, so only a small part of the funds raised every year is supported in horse industry (horse production, horse racing, horse riding, etc.). The Korean Racing Authority has a policy to maintain the size of the livestock development fund by reducing the cost of racing business even if the horse racing sales are stagnant. In order to maintain the scale of payment for the Livestock Development Fund, it is necessary to implement a policy to relax or nurture the regulation on horse racing, but such support can hardly be expected. In this paper, we analyze the current situation of the establishment and operation of the Livestock Development Fund and the fund raising and Sports betting ticket, which is one of the ways to overcome the difficulties of the racing business, and revised the Livestock Industry Act and the Korean Racing Authority Law. We intend to explore the development of the horse industry by suggesting ways to expand the support of the livestock development fund to the horse industry.

This study estimates the impacts of thoroughbred characteristics on the probability of sale (i.e., success in finding sale price) as well as on hammer price (i.e., auction sale price). Concerning the possible correlation between sale success probability and sale price level, we attempted to estimate a Heckman type sample selection model. Because it turned out that the correlation was not significant, we estimated the mechanism of auction success and that of price determination separately as well. Most of the characteristics including age, color, sex and pedigree were found to be significantly affecting both the probability of sale and the sale price level. Besides, whether a horse was listed by Korea Racing Authority (KRA) was the most influential factor of sale success probability. This finding implies that the general non-KRA breeders have to make a strategic decision making when they choose auction markets to participate in.

The project to supply farm machines to growers as a lease was initiated by the government in 2003. Local governments which are financially supported by the central government purchased machines and leased them to farmers at a lower cost. The project has been welcomed by producers because they did not have to purchase high-price machines to manage farms. The government has also encouraged local governments to adopt the project with a purpose of promoting mechanization of upland-field crops, which has been considerably low compared to rice. The number of leasing centers operated by local governments was 379 in 2015, and will be increased to 820 by 2025. However, there have few researches for appropriate number of leasing centers, namely, whether the current number of leasing centers is sufficient or how many leasing centers are needed, if not sufficient. We calculated the appropriate number of leasing centers under some restricted assumptions.

This study examines consumer's perception of and willingness to pay for amenity provision function of agriculture in Korea. For the economic valuation of 'amenity provision function of agriculture', a non-market good, we reviewed and reclassified the definition of amenity presented in the previous research, and defined 'amenity' and 'amenity provision function of agriculture. We surveyed 500 consumers and found that 82.3% of respondents perceive that amenity provision function is worth maintaining. We also surveyed the willingness-to-pay(WTP) for maintaining and conserving amenity provision function using a multi-alternative question method with the departure tax. 68.8% of the people surveyed said that they are willingness pay additional taxes to maintain amenity provision function. The results show that the consumers would pay 41.22%(4,122 Korean Won) in addition to the current departure tax. The total amounts of WTP for maintaining amenity provision function calculated are 2,128 billion Korean won.

The purpose of this study is to provide more accurate information and to seek legal and institutional measures to reduce social controversy and stakeholder conflicts related to FTA Direct Damage Compensation System. For this purpose, the similarities and differences between the US TAAF and Korea's FTA Direct Damage Compensation System were compared and the following implications were drawn. First, it is necessary to alleviate three requirements: total imports, FTA imports, and domestic prices. At the same time, individual farmers' eligibility(application conditions) need to impose not only production or sales facts but also conditions that demonstrate the impact of falling prices, so that farmers with substantial income losses can be supported. Second, the HSK code for the analysis of import volume requirements, which is one of the requirements for FTA direct damage compensation, is very important. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the transparency of system operation by specifying the scope of HSK for each item in the law or the enforcement decree in detail. Third, in the case of compensation program for closing, the effect of the closing of a certain item has caused a ballooning effect, such as the increase in the cultivation area of another item of the same category, leading to a price drop. This is a simple aid, and it is impossible to control supply in the medium to long term. Therefore, rather than paying subsidies unconditionally, it is necessary to change the method to pay a certain amount of subsidies depending on whether or not to establish a conversion plan through education and consulting programs. This will free up the WTO regulations on domestic subsidies and effectively support farmers affected by FTA imports.

Since 2017, the Korean government has implemented the policy that restricts the production activity of selected duck farms in the nation and compensates for some of their economic loss due to the policy. This study analyzed the changes made in market equilibrium and social welfare due to the policy under various assumptions on the duck market situations. The results indicated that the policy reduced consumer, producer, and social surpluses by KRW 12 billion, 7.5 billion, and 19.5 billion, respectively. Also, social welfare will be significantly reduced if the policy is implemented during the period of AI outbreak. In this case, consumer, producer, and social surpluses decreased by KRW 21.8 billion, 15.2 billion, and 37 billion, respectively. Therefore, the policy should only be implemented in special circumstances and limit duck production at a minimum level.

With the view that there are 4 compositional elements (principal, resources, organization, and activities) as the conditions for development of the rural community, this study analyzed the case of the Imsil Cheese Village by applying such elements, and summarized the developmental aspects and characteristics of the rural community. Specifically, conditions for the sustainability of the rural community were deduced first through case analysis in accordance with the revised endogenous development theory. Then, problems that have currently manifested over the course of achieving further sustained development of the Imsil Cheese Village were deduced for each of the conditions in order to analyze the structure amongst said problems. Through this process, it was possible to propose a direction to solve problems aimed at investigation of the factors that enabled the rural community to grow thus far along with the regeneration of the community. The Cheese Village, in spite of the numerous failures it experienced, managed to lead successful business activities with leaders who have undergone community education, playing their core roles in drawing out unification of the village residents through the village creation project. In summary, it can be concluded that ① unyielding resolutions of the principals, ② development and utilization of cheese as a new resource, ③ establishment of democratic decision making system, and ④ activities for making contributions towards the region were the factors that enabled continuity of the rural community. The structure of the currently inherent problems was analyzed in order to deduce the means of sustained growth in the future. As the result, it was found that it is urgent to solve these problems associated with the 'principals', including the aging of the residents and the absence of successors of the businesses in the village as issues with causative nature.

Domestic horse industry is mostly considered a gambling industry for the negative aspect of horse racing, which is anticipated to serve as a factor that impedes medium to long term industrial development. Thus, for the development of horse industry, support and R&D mostly emphasized on horse racing by now need to be allocated to develpte the plans for shared growth along with many other related areas. And simultaneously with that, perception change on horse industry by promotion of positive aspects of it, such as linkage with rural tourism and rehabilitation treatment is required. To achieve it, this study has develped five strategic goals and four-to-five detailed strategies for an individual target, and implemented a importance and priority assessment with the anlaytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results of the analysis show that the reinforcing of the base of horse industry is considered the most imporatant R&D plan. However, the importance and priority of some objectives and strategies differed by group categorized on characteristics.
