Microstructural development of ferritic 11Cr-3.45W heat-resistance steel for ultra-supercritical power plant during creep and thermal aging was investigated using electron microscopy. The test samples were isothermally aged at 700oC for up to 4000 hours and subjected to creep loading at 700oC for predetermined periods of lifetime to prepare the damaged materials. In this structural material, a various secondary phases are the primary influence on mechanical properties of ferritic heat-resistance steel. The typical precipitates of M23C6, MX and M2X secondary phases had been analyzed through qualitative and quantitative manner. Coarsening of precipitates and increase of lath width were observed during creep and thermal aging. This phenomenon was remarkable for creep process compared with isothermal aging process. The objective of this study is to develop the mechanical properties of AlSiCu aluminum alloy by the two-step solution heat treatment. The microstructure of gravity casting specimen represents a typical dendrite structure having a secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) of 40 mm. In addition to the Al matrix, a large amount of coarsen eutectic Si phase, Al2Cu intermetallic phase, and Fe-rich phases are generated. The eutectic Si phases are fragmented and globularized with solution heat treatment. Also, the Al2Cu intermetallic phase is res-olutionized into the Al matrix. The 2nd solution temperature at 525oC might be a optimum condition for enhance-ment of mechanical properties of AlSiCu aluminum alloy. The effects of heat treatment time and cooling method on microstructure and mechanical property of Cu-22wt%Sn alloy were discussed. α+δ mixed phase structure was obtained in air-cooled specimens after heat treatment at 775, 750, and 700℃ for 1 hour. On the other hand, in water-cooled specimens, α+β' martensite mixed phase was obtained. In the case of water-cooled specimens, the hardness value decreased with decreasing heat treatment temperature because the volume fraction of α phase with low hardness value increased as the heat treatment temperature decreased. In water-cooled specimen after heat treatment at 600oC, γ' martensite was formed instead of β' martensite. The hardness value of γ' martensite was lower than those of β' and δ phases. We report the post-annealing effect of Sn doped ZnO (ZnO:Sn) thin film grown on sapphire (001) sub-strate using radio-frequency powder sputtering method. During thermal annealing in a vacuum atmosphere, the ZnO:Sn thin film is transformed into a porous thin film. Based on X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray analyses, a possible mechanism for the production of pores is presented. Sn atoms segregate to form clusters that act as catalysts to dissociate Zn-O bonds. The Zn and O atoms subsequently vaporize, leading to the formation of pores in the ZnO:Sn thin film. We also found that Sn clusters were oxidized to form SnO or SnO2 phases. (Received April 20, 2018; Revised April 27, 2018; Accepted May 4, 2018)

The PMMA composited material mixed with alumina studied to find the optimal condition, the ade-quate ratio of mixing, for the associated mechanical properties such as anti-corrosive, weatherproof perfor-mance. The 80% of hardness and 52% of scratch coefficient improved according to increasing ratio of alumina, which is mostly 3 times higher than that of pure PMMA, on other hand 16% of tensile strength and 35% of flex-ural strength has lost while alumina was adding in. The most proper ratio, having the best availability in substan-tial production, of composite between pure PMMA and alumina is determined as 93 wt. % vs 7 wt. %. In this research, we produced polycrystalline n-type Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 powder using water atomization. To obtain full benefit through water atomized powder, we have implemented spark plasma sintering and hot extru-sion for powder compaction. The microstructure and thermoelectric properties were investigated and compared. The average grain size of SPS and extruded bulks were 3.08 and 3.86 μm respectively. The extruded material microstructure contains layered grains with less grain boundaries and its counter-part SPS displays dense packed grains with high grain boundaries. Among both bulks, extrusion sample exhibited high power factor (PF) of 2.96×10-3 Wm-1K-2 which is 38% higher than SPS (2.14×10-3) bulk sample. Due to variations in grain size and grain boundaries, the SPS bulk shows low thermal conductivity than extruded bulk. However, the extruded bulk sample exhibited a peak ZT of 0.69 at 400 K, which is 19% higher than SPS bulk sample, due to its higher power factor. In this study, we have fabricated n-type Bi2Te2.85Se0.15 compounds by different processing routes such as crushing, milling and mixing respectively. Subsequently, the obtained powders were consolidated by spark plasma sintering (SPS). The phase crystallinity of bulk samples were identified using X-ray diffraction technique. Powder morphology and fracture surface of bulk samples were observed using the scanning electron micros-copy (SEM). The Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity values were significantly increased for the milling sample than crushing and mixing samples. As a result, the maximum power factor was obtained 2.4 mW/mK2, which is thrice than that of crushing process. The maximum figure of merit (ZT) of 0.77 was achieved at 400 K for the milling sample. Furthermore, relatively high hardness and density values were noticed for the different pro-cessed samples. (Received May 10, 2018; Revised May 16, 2018; Accepted May 21, 2018)
